A digestive aid:
Psyllium husks are ideal as a digestive aid for horses particularly those animals kept on sandy or gravelly paddocks or turnout areas. When ingested the Psyllium swells and forms a mucilagenous and gel like substance that as it passes through the digestive system acting as a hydroscopic sponge, soaking up and helping to clear any unwanted foreign material (such as sandy deposits and indigestible roughage). Many vets recommend the use of Psyllium for horses kept on sandy soils. It is important when feeding Psyllium that the horse has access to water and is allowed free movement in a paddock or turnout area to maintain healthy digestive movement.
Ingredients
Psyllium husks (Plantago Ovata)
Guidelines:
*please note: we do not include feeding instructions on the packaging or include a scoop in the bag or tub. This is due to the consistency of straight herbs eg roots are more dense than leaves or flowers, and they can be given to a variety of species. For further research on using straight herbs for animals there are some good books available including Hilary Self's "A Modern Horse Herbal".
