Why we believe animals need herbs
|
Herbs have been given to animals for centuries, with monasteries, stables and farms relying totally on traditional recipes to help keep both humans and animals healthy. Formulations and favourite recipes were passed on to ensure that future generations would continue to benefit from Nature. It is interesting to note that in 2005 over 80% of the worlds population still rely exclusively on herbs for their health. In the 1940’s chemists started to identify, isolate and synthesise the individual constituents of these health giving plants. This has resulted in our modern day drug pharmacopoeia containing almost exclusively synthetic chemical substances. Despite the cures and relief from suffering that modern day drugs and antibiotics can offer, there is a growing concern over the long term effects these substances may have, on both our own, and our animals bodies. In response to this concern, many people are once again turning to the traditional plant based products for maintaining day to day health, both for themselves and their animals. Horses and dogs have generally retained their natural instinct to know what is good for them and, given the opportunity, will seek out these health giving plants for themselves. One only has to take a horse or a dog for a walk down a country lane to see how they will search for particular plants e.g hawthorn or couch grass. |
Todays cereal based equine and canine diets may be convenient for their owners, but they are far removed from what these animals would eat in the wild. In addition, the opportunities for free browsing and access to pastures containing these plants has been dramatically reduced. At Hilton Herbs we believe that with the help of the appropriate herbal mix, owners can help to restore balance, and ensure their animals are given the best opportunity to maintain good health whatever the age. Which product you choose will depend on what aspect of your animals health you are trying to support. Animals are individuals and depending on the circumstances, some will respond better to faster acting herbal liquids, others to the gentle long term benefits of pure dried herbs. In some cases homoeopathic products or flower essences provide the answer, or a combination of different therapies will fit the bill. Whatever you choose you can be sure that the products sold by Hilton Herbs will always be of the very best quality, backed up by indepth knowledge. |
